Is it possible to complete Umrah in one day?
Umrah is a special prayer in Islam. People also call it the Minor Pilgrimage. It’s something Muslims need to do. They can do it on any day if they have enough things they need. But how long does Umrah take? Well, if you’re healthy, there’s not too much of a crowd, and the weather is good, you can finish Umrah in a few hours. After doing Umrah, lots of Muslims want to go to Madinah to visit Masjid-e-Nabwi and Roza-e-Rasool (P.B.U.H).

Performing Umrah in one day:
When you do Umrah, there are four things you have to do: Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’ee, and Qasar/ Halaq. Let’s say you land at Jeddah Airport. You’ll spend time at the airport and then travel to your hotel. You’ll need to eat and rest too because traveling takes a lot out of you. You can start Umrah the next day. So, the day after you arrive, you’ll need to put on special clothes called Ihram and go to Haram. It doesn’t take too long. After that, you’ll do Tawaf.
Tawaf is when you walk around the Ka’bah 7 times in an anti-clockwise direction. While performing Tawaf, pilgrims have the option to recite any dua or supplication following the sunnah. During Umrah, it takes about 2 hours if it’s not too crowded. If there are lots of people, it might take 3 to 4 hours. Then you move on to the 3rd thing you need to do for Umrah, Sa’ee (walking between Safa and Marwah).
The initial step usually begins from Safa, but if someone starts from Marwa, that step isn’t counted. Its importance is also highlighted in the Quran:
“Indeed, Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs ‘Umrah – there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good – then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing.” (Quran 2:158)
Sa’ee also takes about 2 hours if there aren’t too many people.
The last thing you need to do for Umrah is Qasar/ Halaq, “Halaq” refers to shaving your head, which shows that your Umrah is finished. Both men and women need to do it. Women can cut their hair up to their fingertips.
After this step, your Umrah is done, and you can wear your regular clothes. Then you’re all set to pray in your usual outfits. So, Umrah takes around 4 hours if not many people are doing it at the same time.
After finishing Umrah, Muslims often go to Madinah and do extra prayers. For more details on Umrah, you can read a step by step guide to performing an Umrah.
